Okay, here’s the scoop. I have decided that I absolutely must have a felted door mitten for the winter season. I’ve liked this project since it came in and now that we have the Shepherd’s Wool I can’t stop thinking about it. I pull in my driveway and I picture it on my door… I dream about it… I must have it. So, what’s the problem? I cannot decide on a color! I’ll walk out and pick up the skeins and squeeze them; bury my nose and inhale (they all smell the same, in case you’re wondering); turn them over in my hands. But still, no decision. Those of you who know me know how anal I can be so what comes next will probably surprise you because….
This is where you all come in. I have narrowed it down to three colors (Hunter Green, Garnet, and Royal Blue- see below, but note that the colors are a bit darker and deeper than what you will see) and I will let all of you pick for me. Here’s what you do: post a comment telling me which color you like best. I will go with the color that gets the most votes and then post the finished project here.  The nominees for Felted Door Mitten are:
ÂÂ
A bit of background: My house is buttercream yellow with an oak front door. I have a white porch and no shutters or anything else that may argue with the mitten color.ÂÂ
So, there you have it. Post a comment and let’s get the ball rolling. Pun intended.
Susan
I think the garnet color would be perfect. To me it just says winter and the holidays. (especially Christmas and Valentine’s Day). If I were to make one, that is what I would choose to go with my buttercream yellow house.
I see your problem. I do have a personal partiality to blue with yellow. I even have a kitchen that colorway!! I think all would be quite lovely though. Make 3 so you can change at will! Ha!
I vote for the Royal Blue. I think blue and yellow look great together.
Susan, you sound just like me! I’m always in a quandary when choosing a yarn color! This is a great idea! I vote for green because it’s the color I miss most when summer leaves us. Brown grass, leafless trees, dirty snow…yuck!
I will be honest and say the first color that popped into my head was “green” because I thought Lea-Ann was the author of the blog, but then I read your name Susan and now my opinion has changed. I like yellow for houses but what to add to that for your darkish door? I am not overly fond of yellow and red/garnet together so I must rule that combo out, so green or royal blue? Green or Royal Blue? The felting process may, not quite sure yet as I have not felted Shepherd’s wool yet, mute the brightness of either color but thinking of you and seeing you in the shop I think I will go with the Royal Blue. This is a gut pick so take it for what it is worth.
I have to vote for Green. I love buttercream yellow with green and it also makes me think of the holidays.. I would love to see this pattern also..
