So, I had yesterday off and decided that I was going to do every scrap of laundry, including the bedding, so that I might have a bit more free time this weekend. I was really going to town, let me tell you. No rest for the washing machine- load out, load in was kind of my theory. Well… I had taken the sheets and pillowcases off my bed and put them on the floor, ready to scoop up the minute the washing machine signaled the end of the load. When the time came, I scurried into the bedroom, gathered the sheets and shoved them in the washer. I was feeling quite pleased with myself, domestic diva that I am, until I opened the door on the washing machine to take out the sheets and put them in the dryer. I peered into the machine and thought to myself, “what is that black thing in with my sheets?”. I reached in and pulled out…. my husband’s FELTED CLOGS!!!  A few “crikey”s and “ding-dong-it”s later I had my feet in them, desperately tugging to stretch them back out. I’m sure they are a bit smaller than they were pre-washer ride, but I think they may still fit.  I thought about keeping quiet. Maybe just tell him that his feet must be swollen when he put them on sometime, but I did confess and told him that he may want to put them on before they dry to make sure they are big enough, but I don’t think he did. I guess if they don’t fit then one of the boys can have them and I’ll be knitting another pair of clogs.Â
For the record- Shepherd’s Wool will felt very firmly if allowed to go through the whole wash cycle 😛 It’s quite lovely.
That is good to know. I knew Shepherd’s Wool felted fast but good to know it will also get more firm. Not as easy to comment since I have to log in and apparently it does not remember me, bummer. At first I thought you were going to say you scooped the cat up but glad it was only the slippers. When I take the sheets off the bed the cat has been known to join in so I do scoop him up and carry him to the laundry room, sheets and all.
Right now he is fixated on my leather birks. He likes to rest his head on the leather and go to sleep. He gets real upset when I want my shoes back.
I guess slippers are better than a cell phone or a cat. Personally I like to wash money. If it is left in the clothes I considerate my payment for services 🙂
So, last night, tom asks me if he should felt trents clogs to a size 13, needle felt the deer, then refelt them to a size 12. I laughed. He thought they wouldn’t felt down any smaller. I laughed harder and pointed him here. Seriously, though, I can’t wait to see the FO.
I love when I find money in the laundry! It matters not from whose pocket it came. If I find it it is mine. Bwah, ha, ha!
I forgot to mention above how nicely the needle felted ‘P’ on the slippers came out.
