Today I worked on my Dianna Entrelac shawl a little bit — I think I’m going to scrap it and try one from the Entre to Entrelac book.

Also worked on the Ribby Cardi a little bit — going to have to redo the front that I did already. Tara would like me to get this done so she can wear it for fall leave senior pictures. Don’t.think.that.will.happen!

Worked on my Insouciant sock a bit. Need to have this ready to cut open at the next class Saturday.

Worked on the new website design and chat group a little bit. Have a long way to go.

Worked on the Travelling Woman’s Shawl using Dream Club cashmere — LOVELY! But had to restart because my cast on count was off.

Busy, busy the next couple of nights and days … Sweater Night is for anyone who has a sweater project purchased from Knitting Today. We work on gauge, fit, modifications, stitches, seaming, and whatever else we need to do (sometimes rippit??) to get those sweaters finished! No charge but it is nice to know in advance who is coming and what point they are working on so I’m prepared mentally to multi-task .

UFO night is when we all gather and work on whatever project we want to get finished. Sometimes it is something that has been stuck in a closet for twenty years, and sometimes we start something new. I usually try and hand out some door prizes for various surprise contests throughout the night. Sometimes I’ll plan special theme nights or events, but this Friday is all about the UFO (it might even be the finished up of the sweater that needs seamed on Thursday night!).

Saturday morning at 10 is the continuation of the Freedom fair Isle hat that Nancy has been teaching. It is the two-handed fair isle method and also teaches chart reading.

Saturday afternoon at 1 is the continuation of the Insouciant Sock class. Anyone who purchased the book from Knitting Today is entitled to this free class and we have many who are coming back to do another sock from the book. pre-registration is requested, but it is not necessary to have attended the other classes for this particular sock.

Happy knitting every one!!

Well, he really isn’t our own elf, but he sure is darn cute!!!!! New grandson, Jacob, is wearing the Andean Hat that is coming with us to Stitches Midwest. Yepp, we are packing for it! The store looks like an actual hurricane has came through. Jjust wait until we take the shelves, Susan will be selling out of boxes while we’re gone! She might even throw a “box” sale just so we don’t have to put it back on shelves. Stay tuned . .

Cassidy is almost done! It is completely assembled, just waiting to finish up a few ends, block and sew on the buttons. Can’t wait to show you the final product.

Giveaway: In the meantime, if you would like to win one of the hat kits Jacob is wearing, leave a comment. We’ll draw a winner upon our return from Stitches Midwest. And, if you don’t want to make the hat? There is enough yarn in the kit to make Marie Mayhew’s felted eggs or use do a multi-color felted bag, like Noni’s Vintage Purse. Oh, and notice that the hat is lined? Tammy Otis came up with that idea all on her own and shared a write-up with us. Make sure you ask for it if you order a kit. Speaking of Tammy, her and DH celebrated their anniversary recently and guess where they spent some of the time? Yep, here! She brought us size of the Andean Hats in various colorways for our display at Stitches. Thank you, Tammy! And congrats, to both of you on your anniversary too!

Getting down to the wire and Haley has three little fingers to finish, ends to weave in and washing/blocking to do. Saturday is judging. She has several days this week that she’ll be working with her horse, Luke, getting him ready to show so she needs to have it finished today. Thankfully she should have plenty of time. Instead of spending my day off at home, look what I’m trying out–a booth at the Shipshewana Flea Market. I brought some yarns we’re kind of tired of, some books and some Quilt Happy, Stitch happy, Scrap happy, and Knit Happy. It’s hot, 92f, but the building, the fans and the breeze make out cool. I’m meeting lots of knitters and getting time to work on my Cassidy sleeves, so all is well. Susan reports she has been busy back at the store, but with customers not website work so you’ll have to be patient and wait for the new stuff. (hint, one of the new Knit Happy products is in a picture below…can you find it?). We also have Caitlyn doing some ebay work for us. Check out her ebay auctions at http://myworld.ebay.com/girlbhindthemusic/

Memorial Day, celebrating the sacrifices men have made for our Country and our lives. It is also the end of the month, the beginning of Summer, and the start of June. Oh my! There is so much to do and no time to do it, but at least it is getting lighter so when I wake up early, I can actually see to do things. Will I get more accomplished or just be overwhelmed because I can see everything that needs to be done? Anyways . . . mark your calendar for:

June 16, 9-4, a Visit With Lorna — this is an event uniquely planned for Knitting Today. She will be bringing her Faith, Hope, Love, Knitting projects and telling us the stories, and the stories behind the stories. She’ll be showing us how to do techniques, talking about yarn and choices, and getting us started on a project of our choice form the book. It will be a relaxing day for us, crazy for her, and more info can be found at http://www.knittingtoday.com/go.mvc?id=lorna2010.

Cassidy update: I can’t pass up an opportunity to tell you what is happening with Cassidy. I started the sleeves. I am modifying the pattern so it starts right into the cables without doing ribbing because i didn’t want the ribbing to hug my pear-shaped body. The back/fronts look good. The sleeves are about 4 inches to wide around the wrist. Do I do the ribbing? Do I cut back the number of stitches so they start at 8″ and change the sleeve shaping appropriately? What would you do? What do you think I’ll decide to do?

Have a wonderful day!!

And here she is just sitting down after a hard day of teaching.
No, she isn’t an employee, but is a valuable part of our teaching team and she was teaching the Three Tams using a two-handed Fair Isle technique. One tam took a skein of Silk Garden and a skein of Shepherd’s Wool.

Everyone who took the class made the project their own:

We’re ready for our next Noro Kureyon or Silk Garden project; it doesn’t matter if its sock or worsted weight. Post a link to a picture of your project and tell us a little bit about it in your comments. On December 25, yes Christmas Day, I’ll have Haley pick a number and the matching commenter will receive a Knit Happy insulated tumbler!
