I’d like to know if you are working on gifts for the holiday gift-giving season. Do you think you’ll have everything done that you want to? Do you let the stress of the hustle and bustle get to you? What do you do to keep the focus on the positive? Post by December 1 for a chance at a drawing for the

Swirl Shawl – all the rage!
Our supply of Jojoland Superwash Melody is dwindling as well as the Swirl Shawl patterns and I found myself wondering why. Hmm, the Yarn Harlot has posted! She is now knitting the scarf version of this:

Once you get going with the pattern, its a fairly easy knit. Just buy 5 balls of Superwash Melody from: http://www.knittingtoday.com/go.mvc?ID=melodysuperwash and the Swirl Shawl pattern which is conveniently on the same page!Â
If you have this pattern and yarn, please post and let me know how you are coming along!!!! We’ll have a sample to show you sometime in 2010, I’m guessing. Its hard to put a part of it on display since you attach as you go . . .
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am thankful for you!
Zauberball – the FO
Thanks to A Warped Knitter for posting a picture of her Zauberball and Trekking XXL socks on her blog. I wish I had two new pair of socks to wear for winter
. In order to actually get several pairs of socks knit though, I’m going to have to knit mine on the machine. I just got a Silver Reed 160+ribber (a combination not easily found, now you have to buy the Silver Reed 860 in order to get the ribber to work) that I’ll be swatching on . . .  I’d like to give the garter stitch heel a try, so might just knit tubes and ribbing on the machine and afterthought the heel. Anyone else have a sock project to share? Lea-Ann
Its not my hand in the box . . .
ROFL — anyone who has been in the store knows that if someone is looking for something and its in the box in the back, I don’t hesitate to open it and let them go through the box. But, one time, Susan was in the middle of inventory and when I opened a particular box, there was a note in there that my hand might come to some harm if I touched what was under the note – all done in good fun, mind you. So now the joke is who’s hand is going to be harmed if I open that box . . . well, this one isn’t me folks. This is Susan herself fondling the baby alpaca from Windy Hills Alpaca Farm.  This is one time I wish I had a video going as she is oohing and awing over the feel of the Baby Gracie. I believe the direct quote is ”it is such a rich, deep brown and if it wasn’t so fuzzy, I’d lick it” (her favorite treat is dark chocolate). So, good luck finding it online because she also said “this is what is going home with me.” We have four baby alpacas’ first shearing. Here’s your sneak peak . . .

I just might have some Ravelry schwag to give away to someone come December 1 . . . . please share your thoughts.Â
Soups on!
Tomorrow is the beginning of our winter Soups On! knitting . . . on Fridays from 11-3, we put soup from Martin’s Homestyle Soup Company in our crock pot (hmm, maybe I better check and make sure its here as well as that I have enough bowls, spoons, etc.) and anyone who would like to partake throws a couple bucks in the cup. We don’t just eat though, we also knit and, as shown below, we might even spin! If you are in the area, join us . . . this Friday we have one of my favorites, Pizza Soup! Lea-Ann
We took the plunge!!
Got a new computer this weekend and made the jump from PC to Mac. My husband is not a try something new kind of guy and I really didn’t think I would talk him into making the switch. Well, Boy #2 decided he just had to go with us when we picked it out (probably to ensure we had someone with a bit of cool factor with us) and we were talking on the way down and Boy is telling us that we simply must get a Mac because the monitor is “way awesome” and there is no tower, and various other things that have nothing to do with the function of the computer. I was trying to get him to tell me something truly relevant that would help my case (hubbie was getting a tad tired of hearing the word “awesome” at this point) when he finally said “Well, (friend) has never gotten a virus”. To which my husband (gotta love him) says in a frustrated voice “That’s because Macs don’t get viruses! They’re all written for Windows!”. A very short moment of silence after which I say “you’ve kind of proven his point there” at the same time that Boy says “EXACTLY”. Thus, we have a Mac.
So far I am in love with the thing (could be because the 27″ screen is incredible). I haven’t had a whole lot of time to play but what I have figured out so far is that it is SO EASY! My kids have already found out that the iMovie and iPhotoBooth are a hoot.  It’s going to take a while to get used to but I really think I am going to have no regrets. The little I have done has been pretty simple to figure out.Â
So, does anybody out there have a Mac? Or do you know someone that does? If so, what are the thoughts, the loves, the not-so-greats? It’s killing me that I haven’t had time to do much of anything. I do realize the asking opinions after the purchase is a bit cart-before-the-horse but I am interested in what others have experienced.
On a side note- the Green Chick bags are in and as expected each is very unique. There are two sizes and several different “features”. These aren’t going to be online, so you’ll have to pop in the shop to see them. – Susan
