I have a secret!

Truth be told I have a whole folder of secrets.  Good secrets- not the kind the snobby girls whisper on the playground but the kind that make you try to hide an anticipatory smile.  I have on my desk, under my right elbow at this very moment all the purchase orders Lea-Ann placed at TNNA.  I will be spending my days getting things around to receive these beauties the minute they come through the door.  Some will be coming soon, others are for fall.  If you sit on the website you will see them momentarily flash on the screen as I set them up, only to do a frantic search a few moments later when they disappear.  Sometimes when I am putting new products on I giggle when I think of some yarnaholic searching over and over for something that was there just moments before but is nowhere to be found now.  She knows it was there- she is not crazy, so where did it go?!!  I have just a tiny streak of wicked running through me and I find the thought of this too funny. (I can hear you laughing so don’t pretend that you don’t think it’s funny, too)  I will take this opportunity to apologize if you are one of the above mentioned yarnaholics.  I do not plan to tease you.  It’s just a perk of the job. ;-)

I am very good at keeping secrets, so you’ll just have to pop in every now and again to find out what’s new.

Take time to knit today- Susan

Radiate on Knitting.com

http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring09/PATTradiate.php
Using the wonderful feeling Italian Ice, Radiate creatively uses a combination of knits and purls to create vertical lines pleasing to the eye and directing the attention to the neckline.  This design would look good over a t-shirt or tanktop for summer wear with some nice linen pants (can you tell I want to go shopping??).   And, Helene did a great job sizing the pattern to 3X!!   Italian Ice is a beautiful yarn:

  • Fiber Content: 61% cotton/26% linen/13% viscose
  • Put-Up: 50-gr ball
  • Yardage: 76 yards
  • Texture: ribbon wrapped with viscose highlights
  • Sts per 4″: 16 sts
  • Needles: US size 9 5.(5mm)

While supplies last, order enough for your size (9 balls or more), and we’ll take 20% off at checkout.   Use coupon code: knews624 and remember to click the redeem coupon button.  Enjoy!  Lea-Ann

P.S.  Dress it up with a glitter button!

Eyelet Cardi and Silky Wool = a beautiful combination

Eyelet Cardi from Chic Knits

I dream .  . . . I dream as I knit on the Slant in Nature,  I dream as I pull patterns to fill orders, I dream as I straighten yarn . . . I dream of what I’ll work on next.  I know I have the Top Ten list already, but there are new patterns, new yarns, new ideas, new Ravelry project photos of friends I follow . . . oh my! Okay, so Passing Down Crazy  is on vacation and working on the Eyelet Cardi  from ChicKnits (I just LOVE her designs, thanks to all my customers who told me about her!), and I click through to see what yarn everyone is knitting it in.  The original design appears to be done in Silky Wool!  I*Must*Add*This*To*The*Top*Ten because I do already have on the list “Something, Anything in Silky Wool”.  Scroll to the bottom of the Silky Wool page  to see the new bright colors — don’t you just love them?  Can’t you see yourself wearing an Eyelet Cardi done in Silky Wool?  I need more knitting time!!

Slant on Nature knitalong starts Thursday night 6-9

Ty-dy yarn samplesO

oh, oh, oh, we have a Slant on Nature in the pumpkin-ish colorways on display right now!  They sent a variety of samples for display for retreat.  So, I started my Slant project and did the largest size.  It was too small!  I waited until I took the Whip your Knits class and have my pattern shape.  I started knitting until my knitting fits my shape, figured out how to do the underarm shaping.  I went to Marching Band practice last night with Haley intending to knit and k nit and knit and while I could do that, I didn’t have my shape.  I was wearing my new white overblouse that Heather so kindly took a picture and posted all over facebook on, took it off, laid it out, and put my shape to it.  PERFECT!  I now know my Slant will fit like my white blouse!!  I can wear it everyday and use it as a pattern – NOT.  I’m taking lots of notes on what I’ve done and hope to be able to share my fit ideas at the knitalong Thursday night.  If you haven’t registered and have purchased ty-dy cotton for a sweater, call in and get on the list.  We’ll meet from 6-9 (although I haven’t figured out how I’m going to get my kids where they need to be that night yet).  Lea-Ann

The Dream In Color Classy and Tatamy Tweed DK have arrived!

Oh my gosh . . . we have boxes and boxes of yarn that arrived yesterday.  You would not believe the number of skeins of yarn we have to price and get packed to go over to the Farmstead.  We’ll leave some at Knitting Today too, but still.  We now have the latest colors in the Dream in Color Classy line and some new patterns to go with.  I’ll post a link as soon as I remember the names of the patterns.  Someone help me out if you can.  I think there was  a child’s sideways cardigan, the adult tulip, and ????  I know I want to do the February Lady Sweater out of it.  That will be our third sweater knitalong in the series this year.  Susan is still working on scanning the images so give her a little time as I’m sure it won’t happen this weekend.

Plus, we have ALL of the colors of Tatamy Tweed DK.  Karen Fredrickson designed a cute baby blanket.  She’ll be teaching a class on it this Fall but the pattern, Laundry Basket Baby Blanket, and yarn are available now.  It looks like a basketweave but looks are deceiving.  It has enough texture to hold your interest, but a plain row to give you rest.  Really good for someone just learning to knit but wants a little bit more.  We’ll have the basket at the Farmstead Inn during Iwannaknit Retreat and then it’ll return to Knitting Today for a while.  It does have a baby to go to though, so don’t delay!
