Cassidy Knitalong starting soon . . .

We love designer Bonne Marie Burns, ChicKnits, designs and her design Cassidy is calling my name.  I have seen pictures on ravelry of it with a collar instead of a hood and I just love it.  I’ve done two lace designs now and I’m ready to get back to cables.  So, anyone want to join in our knitalong?  I’m looking for the perfect daytime/evening; day of the week to get it rolling.  If you want on the list for hte pattern, let me know.  And, of course, I’m doing mine in Shepherd’s Wool so get your color picked out now if you want it so we can be sure and have adequate stock.  Looking forward to a new project . . . Silky Wool — Bee-u-ti-ful

silky wool - new colors

I’m enjoying the new colors of spring arriving in the store, Cotton Classic from Tahki Yarns, Silky Wool from Elsebeth Lavold, Ty-Dy from Knit One, Crochet Too . . . they all make me wish the grass was greener and the sun a little warmer but in the meantime, I can dream and start knitting on my summer projects (well, after I finish another Top Ten project!), but I can dream right?  Here’s the link to all our colors in stock: Link to Silky Wool at Knittingtoday.com

And, that isn’t all, Elsebeth Lavold came up with a book that utilizes these bright colors in some innovative ideas:  Elsebeth Lavold Book Seventeen – Small Things Matter

P.S.  Don’t forget Tom’s FCCTCC contest — http://knittingtoday.com/knews/archives/2009/02/25/toms-march-madness-fcctcc-contest/

An insider joke from UFO Night . . . .

it is now 8:50 am and even through my half-lidded sleep-laden eyes, I can tell you that Furbie has officially left the building [that was the name of my kids electronic talking pet, wasn't it??] . . . onward to your regularly planned day and maybe some much needed rest and more knitting time??  Lea-Ann

Think Spring — think Cotton Classic

As my friend Mandy is so fond of reminding me on facebook (have you joined our Knitting Today club there yet??), she is headed to Florida for spring break and its only about a week away.  I was thinking how much fun it would be to sit on a beach in Florida and knit a summer top for myself to wear when the humidity is sooo hot here in Indiana that I can’t stand it anymore . . . . what top would it be?  What yarn would it be?  I am totally inspired by all the new Cotton Classic colors that have come in the door and the new book, 3rd Edition Cotton Classic, to go with it (note: we’ll modify the post to include a link as soon as Susan has it uploaded, in the meantime, you can visit Tahki’s website to see all the projects [just remember not to order from them because we may not get assigned the order!]) .  The cover pullover would be a great beach cover-up, there is a short-sleeved lace top inside, as well as a couple basic go-with-everything cardigans to wear at the bonfire at night.  This is a great book and then the one before that, Tahki Yarns Spring/Summer 2008, had tanks, tees and hoodies.  We have 32 colors of Cotton Classic to choose from, everything from bold and brights, to neutral greys, and pastels.  What color would you choose?  Link to Tahki Cotton Classic

JOJOland Superwash Melody flying out the door

and its not the wind taking it!  Boy, isn’t the spring-like weather nice?  So, my DH Tom thinks I’m corrupting him, let me tell you, its the yarn clamoring to get out of the boxes.  It practically yells, “open me, open me” and then it yells “cast on, cast on!” and I don’t have the heart to yell back – “NO!  I have a top ten list and you aren’t on it!” So, here I am, ignoring everything else that needs done and enjoying knitting a new pattern and yarn for us, Jojoland Melody Superwash.  It is a variation of the mitered square and darn if I can remember the pattern name off-hand. Susan hasn’t had a chance to get the patterns online yet so i can’t even show you that way.  If you want to see the new jojoland yarn though, go to: Melody Superwash in Knitting Today-Yarn and check it out. I want to do the swirl shawl pattern also, and Penny has taken some to start a project off of Ravelry (hopefully she’ll add it to her project there). You *have* to stop in the store and pet this yarn. It is soooo soft and comes in wonderfully long colorways. — Lea-Ann
